Class Uniform & Hair Requirements

Wearing proper dance attire and keeping hair securely up allows dancers to move safely, focus fully, and show respect for the discipline of dance. In ballet, taking the time to create a neat bun and wear the correct uniform also supports tradition, enhances clean lines, and helps each dancer present themselves with professionalism.

HAIR REQUIREMENTS FOR DANCE CLASS:

  • All dancers must have their hair securely tied back and off their face/neck.

  • Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Stage, Acro + Tap students may have a ponytail or braid.

  • BALLET STUDENTS OF ALL AGES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A PROPER BALLET BUN FOR CLASS.

The tutorial linked above is an excellent resource for dancers + parents learning how to do a proper ballet bun.

BUN KITS @ DDA: Beginning in October, Bun Kits will be available at the front desk for $5. Each kit has the essentials for a neat bun, helping dancers feel confident and class-ready. If a dancer arrives without a required bun, our staff will assist using a kit, and the $5 charge will be added to the family’s account. This simple system ensures dancers stay prepared, professional, and ready to dance.
