Sorami Moriyama
PBT | Ballet Technique & Pointe
Sorami is a passionate ballet teacher. Born in Nagoya, Japan, she began her ballet training at age 3 at Yukiko Torii Ballet School, and immediately fell in love with the art form. In 2008, she moved to Canada where she continued training at Goh Ballet Academy, in Vancouver.
Over the course of her training, Sorami has worked with world renowned ballet masters and choreographers, performed various ballets and contemporary works and toured through cities within Canada as well as abroad in Japan and China.
Sorami has completed all the Royal Academy of Dance vocational exams from Intermediate to Advanced 2 with distinction.
As a ballet teacher, Sorami has been teaching ballet to students in the lower mainland as well as back home in Japan. Her favourite part of being a teacher is when she gets to witness students conquer and overcome challenges they previously struggled with.
While Sorami is passionate about teaching, she also enjoys performing and expressing herself through movements. When she is not teaching, you can find her taking dance classes at Harbour Dance Centre where she also teaches adults.
Sorami holds a certification in Progressing Ballet Technique and is moving into her second year of the CBTS teacher training program with the Royal Academy of Dance.
Miss Sorami is very excited to be joining the Driftwood dance community!
